My Journey with Mast Cell Disease: Beyond the Diagnosis

Part 1: The Long Road to Answers

Looking back, the hardest part wasn’t the illness its self, was the battle to be believed. I knew something was wrong. My body wasn’t reacting like it should. Flushing, hives, stomach issues, pain, breathing issues, dizziness and many other symptoms, it was all there. Yet appointment after appointment, I heard the same dismissive phrase: “It’s probably just anxiety.”

Imagine being in crisis, your body in full revolt, and the very people meant to help you turning away. That’s what so many of us with Mast Cell Disease face. It took relentless persistence, countless tests, and more than a few tears before someone finally listened. When the diagnosis came, Mast Cell Activation Disease. I felt both relief and started researching as much as I could to educate myself to have a better understanding of what was happening with my body and how I could potentially fix it. I knew the journey ahead would be anything but simple.
