My life often feels like a mystery thriller, except the villain hides inside me.With Mast Cell Disease, there is no predictable enemy. A bite of the wrong food, a new medication, or anything, even then its a gamble because I may tolorate it today but not tomorrow. Even stress can unleash chaos in my body. Many of these and more can cause but not limited to skin flushing, chest tightness, gastro intestinal issues, rashes, hives, blood pressure plummets or spikes. My body wages war against itself.

It is terrifying because the reactions don’t ask permission. One moment I’m sitting feeling normal, the next I’m battling for control of my own airway. Carrying epinephrine, antihistamines, and emergency protocols has become second nature.

What happens when the doctors who are supposed to guide my care simply… disappear?

That’s what happened in June 2025. My allergist, the one who should have been my shield, vanished when I needed her most. Her silence left me stranded in the middle of a crisis, proving once again that Mast Cell Disease is never my only enemy.
