Chapter Sixteen – Between Shadows and Sparks

This is my life: a pendulum swinging between collapse and resilience. Between despair and hope. Between shadows of illness and sparks of progress.

I’ve lost my mother January 2025 . I’ve lost my service dog April 2025 . In this, I’ve lost pieces of my independence, of trust in the very systems meant to keep me safe.

But I’ve also gained Sapphire, my new service dog, whose soft eyes remind me daily that love is still here. I’ve gained the knowledge that my heart endures. I’ve gained small but real victories in my kidneys’ fight.

And most of all, I have not lost my will.
