Some reactions are due to Oral Allergy Syndrome (also called Pollen-Food Allergy Syndrome), others are true anaphylactic allergies, and many are Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) responses.
Living with this is like playing a high-stakes game of “real-life survival.”
When trying a new substance—especially food—I must begin with extremely small doses (microdosing). Sometimes, my body accepts it briefly… other times, it turns dangerously reactive.
Avoiding cross-reactions is critical. The true challenge lies in identifying exactly what triggers the response and why. While MCAS is often histamine-driven, my body is more sensitive to salicylates and oxalates.
MEDICAL NOTE:
I have consulted numerous nutritionists who admitted my case is too complex for them. Even specialists in immunology or allergy have stated they don’t have the time or tools to manage this. Others have suggested high-dose pharmaceuticals that I refuse to take due to intolerable side effects or diminished quality of life.
I’m a hands-on, natural-approach patient. I don’t believe in layering medication upon medication until I’m either sedated beyond functioning or battling new side effects that require even more prescriptions. That cycle often ends in worse outcomes.
Some doctors boast high remission rates but charge thousands of dollars, creating unaffordable regimens that most patients can’t sustain.
IMPACT ON FAMILY LIFE:
My children have had to cook and eat outdoors, far from me, due to my severe reactions to the vapors released during cooking.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION:
“How can you be allergic to a smell if you're not touching or eating it?”
Here’s the reality: It’s not just a scent, it's airborne particles released into the environment. Think of diesel fumes or construction dust, you don’t ingest it, yet you inhale it.
If I can smell it, my body is already being exposed to its molecular structure.
These particles become inhaled allergens, triggering the same response as if I had eaten or touched them.
CURRENT STATUS:
At this time, I consume only:
Plain organic chicken
Plain organic Greek yogurt
Bottled water
Every day. Every meal. No exceptions.
I’ve had to undergo food trials in ICU settings, as my reactions are often delayed and can escalate quickly. I must also pre-medicate before any procedure, iron, or potassium infusions due to past complications.
I bring my own bedding to hospitals, as standard laundry detergents cause reactions.
A CALL FOR HELP – TO ANY DOCTOR WHO READS THIS:
If you believe you can help me, please reach out. I am open to participating in nutritional research studies aimed at healing through food, not prescriptions.
I bring a great deal of knowledge and lived experience to the table and am seeking a safe, supportive environment to explore treatment options.
Let’s find a path forward, not with more pills, but with understanding, research, and care.
