2019 – Triumphs and Setbacks

February 2019 brought water damage to the apartment, a leak above the front door. In April 2019 I drove my daughter and her friend to San Diego, something unthinkable only years earlier.

By May 2019, I weighed 130 pounds. I even tolerated compounded Vitamin D3, a breakthrough.

But then came August 2019. An accident left me with second- and third-degree burns across my face, neck, arm, and hand. This should have triggered a catastrophic mast cell reaction.

It didn’t.

Instead, I healed at an astonishing rate, faster than doctors expected. Scarring was minimal. I had entered a form of remission.

One of the top mast cell specialists ranked me among his worst four patients. Now, I was his most improved.

I was winning.

Until mold struck again.
